Aesthetic Therapist
Advanced Diploma of Health Science (Aesthetics)
The Advanced Diploma of Health Science (Aesthetics) is a skin specific course
incorporating a high level of both theory and practical units.
While the course does integrate beauty therapy components, such as facials and
advanced facials its main emphasis is on higher theoretical and practical
knowledge in advanced aesthetic treatments. The course centres on the anatomy
and histology units as a critical theory base for the application and
understanding of aesthetic therapies. Practically it branches out into areas
incorporating chemical peeling procedures, the use of advanced electrical
equipment such as lasers, IPL machines, micro dermabrasion treatments and
oxygen therapies.
The course provides students with the opportunity to obtain a greater knowledge
of paramedical skin care products and an in depth understanding of surgical and
non surgical procedures. These qualifications will allow the aesthetic
therapist to work in close collaboration with anti-aging doctors, plastic
surgeons and cosmetic surgeons.
We have also included a unit relating directly to nutritional benefits in
aesthetic treatments. The unit will provide the therapist with the knowledge
required to offer nutritional support and specific dietary advice to clients,
helping to enhance the outcomes of their treatments.
Four different streams of study have also been written and developed in
addition to the core units. These provide more distinct pathways into
specialised fields within the industry and offer students a broader scope of
study.
The field of beauty therapy is an ever expanding one. The qualification boasts
an excellent vocational outcome for those wishing to move away from the
traditional areas of beauty therapy and into the rapidly growing area of
aesthetics and anti-ageing therapies.
